Chung Cheng High School is a school well known for its long history. It is also widely known for its lake and the environment. Its environment is clean and peaceful; it even has a lake to beautify its environment. The environment is very clean as there are no litter in the lake or any parts of the school. The school is also surrounded by trees which give off fresh air. I admire its stillness and peacefulness when nobody is around. One thing I definitely like about Chung Cheng is the environment. 

Zhu Lin Lou,竹林楼 in Chinese,is the oldest building in school.It was named after the founder,Mr Zhuang Zhu Lin.
As we are a Chinese School,our main building,Zhu Lin Lou,is also rich in Chinese culture.It was designed like an ancient Chinese building,using mainly red which was popular in ancient China,and Green as "Zhu Lin"means a lot of bamboos in Chinese.
Even the roof of the building,was designed like the Chinese piles,looked just like the ancient Chinese's building.

The Grand Auditorium is also located there,and there are many other rooms such as:Media Room,School History Gallery,General Office and many......

As the building is old,it can't take too much more weight as people was afraid that it might collapsed anytime.

The Grand Auditorium,光前堂 or 大礼堂in Chinese,is our school's main building,it is at the first floor of our oldest building,"Zhu Lin Lou"

It was made of pure marble and was declared open by Prime Minister,Mr Lee Kuan Yew on 21st July 1986.When opened,our grand auditorium was the largest auditorium in the Southeast Asia region which was built.

Have you ever wonder why our Grand Auditorium does not have air-conditioning in it?This is because the building is so old that people are worried the building might just collapsed if the air-conditions were installed in the auditorium.

Every Monday,we have assembly in the Grand Auditorium.It is the mass school gathering and the whole school are to report at the auditorium.We sometimes also conducted PE lessons there,and sometimes,the flag raising ceremony is held there,too.

Because of the rich history and culture,out Grand Auditorium is fairly well known in Singapore.

Chung Cheng High School (Main) is renowned for its lake, known as the Zhongzheng Lake (中正湖).
its size now is 14000m2 as it has been reduced about two-thirds by several school-expansion programmes since the 1950s to increase the area of land.


Rumours about the lake:
Have you ever heard of Chung Cheng High School’s beautiful and picturesque lake? Oh yeah… it is indeed famous, but, underneath it, was a tunnel, which led to a room. And during the japanese o
ccupation, it was the torture room. And until today, though the tunnel was destroyed, you may still see the big hole in the lake at night, when the water is clear, when the fountains are closed.

Other Facilties

Hong Dao Lou (弘道楼) was completed in 1997 which is a  32-classroom block


Hao Ran Lou (浩然楼)  was built in 1996 with the canteen and a multi-purpose hall.

Zhuo Pu Lou (琢璞楼) ,the 16-classroom block was built in 1999.


Ge Wu Lou (格物楼) ,built in 1997,which was the Craft-cum-Technical Complex，now called Ge Wu Lou.
